Women's Health

Women seeking support through therapy

Many women face unique struggles and pressures that can impact their mental health, such as societal and cultural pressures, gender-based violence and discrimination, lack of access to healthcare, and the overall stress and demands of modern life. Our society has come a long way in supporting women; however, you continue to receive confusing and mixed messages from media, advertising, culture, religion, and individual family values.

It can feel like there is a lot expected of you and no matter what you do, somebody will be disappointed or find something to criticize.

As a woman, you likely have a deep, innate ability to empathize with the feelings of others, so you take these messages to heart. This can have a significant impact on your mental health and well-being. I’m passionate about supporting women and empowering them to be their most authentic self. Common concerns I work with include:

  • Anxiety

  • Low self-esteem

  • Insecurity around dating

  • Trouble breaking unhealthy relationship patterns

  • Setting boundaries, assertiveness training, and self-advocacy

  • Sexual health (a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality)

  • Life transitions

  • Recovering from sexual trauma or relationship violence (including safety planning if you are currently in an unsafe relationship)

As women it can be easy to be others-focused, but in the counseling room, it's about

getting to know yourself and what makes you uniquely you.

In our work together, I will help you identify your personal values and how you want to treat yourself, others, and the world around you. We then utilize these values, along with your strengths (and believe me, you have many strengths – I will help you find them) to tackle these issues you are struggling with and empower you to make choices that are authentic to you. Whether you have a specific issue you want to address or are interested in more long-term discovery work, I would be happy to talk with you further about how I can be of support.
