The choice to come to therapy is deeply personal. I take great care to get to know you as a whole person, beyond a list of symptoms, and I tailor my approach to your needs as well as your strengths. I provide a compassionate, safe space in which I collaborate with you to work through life’s challenges.
I integrate a variety of evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to meet your specific needs. I incorporate cognitive thinking skills, self-compassion, mindfulness, and action-oriented steps to help you achieve a treatment outcome of living a full and meaningful life while learning how to effectively navigate the inevitable pain that comes with it.
I work from the perspective that while pain is inevitable at times, suffering can be optional. I can help you develop skills that enable you to experience hope and joy, even during life’s challenges, while finding a new sense of strength and empowerment. These skills teach you how to accept what is outside of your control, treat yourself with compassion, and commit to action that improves your life.
While the above are my specialty areas, I provide counseling services to a diverse clientele, addressing a broad spectrum of issues. If you are wondering if I am the right fit to provide you with the support you are looking for, I encourage you to schedule a free 15 minute consultation call.
Throughout my professional career I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including community mental health, higher education, residential treatment, and outpatient group practice. I have provided therapeutic services to a variety of populations, including survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, college students, children ages 6-17 and their parents/caregivers, couples, and individuals. In addition to providing direct counseling, I have enjoyed working with new and soon to be counselors-in-training by providing clinical supervision to counselors accruing hours towards licensure and educating graduate students. I have served as an adjunct faculty member for the MA in Counseling program at the University of San Diego, teaching courses in Counseling Skills, Couples and Sexuality, and Risk Assessment and Trauma.
My professional experiences have provided me the opportunity to build varied competencies and support a diverse clientele. Over time my clinical passions led me to start my independent practice, where I specialize in areas including perinatal mental health (infertility, pregnancy, and postpartum), women’s issues, anxiety, parenting, young adults, sexual health, life transitions, and relationship issues.
